Vintage Longines Sunglasses and Glasses Frames
The illustrious history of this Swiss timepiece specialist can be traced back to 1832 when their founder, Auguste Agassiz, produced his first clocks. During the 1800s Longines began to specialise in the crown wound pocket watches. These were far more convenient than the key-wound clocks of the time.
Longines grew into one of the most iconic luxury watch manufacturers in Switzerland. Which takes some doing given that Switzerland is home to perhaps 99% of the greatest watch brands of all time. The time for Longines eyewear, however, was still some way off in the future.
It wasn’t until the 1980s when Metzler, the prestigious German eyeglasses manufacturer, partnered with Longines. Producing elegant luxury Longines sunglasses and glasses frames for men with refined tastes. Taking notes from their heritage in watchmaking, many of the vintage Longines frames produced during the 1980s feature watch winders on the temples.
Given that the logo for Longines is a winged hourglass, it is no surprise that the most sought-after vintage Longines eyewear models are their aviator frames. This iconic logo is often incorporated into the designs as the nose bridge.
The designers at Longines believe that “Elegance is an Attitude”. However, it won’t hurt to put a vintage Longines frame on your face to help you on your way! Create a custom pair of Longines sunglasses by adding some UV lenses and having them fitted to any of our Longines eyewear.
