Understanding The Measurements On Glasses Frames

What size glasses frame is the right fit for you?

In this blog post, we will demystify the process of working out what size of frames you should be looking for. This is perhaps the most important skill when it comes to buying eyewear online. Whilst almost 90% of the global population own at least one pair of sunglasses, I would wager that less than 1% would actually know what size they are. Compared with measurements like your shoe size, shirt size or dress size, which are known almost ubiquitously, eyewear sizing can often seem confusing to even the most experienced online shoppers.

What size glasses will fit you image.

Where do you start when sizing up a glasses frame?

The first thing we recommend is to take a look at your current favourite glasses or sunglasses frames in a bit more detail. Most frames that have been manufactured over the last 40 years will have some extra information relating to their sizing printed or embossed on the inside of the left arm. If you can't see any details here they could also be under the inside of the nose or right at the base of the arm too.

What you are looking for is something like you can see in the image below...

The dimensions on the inner arm of a pair of glasses

As you can see there are quite a few numbers on this frame, so which one's are the frame measurements?

48 - This relates to the lens width in mm.

22 - This is the bridge width in mm.

150 - This is the arm length from the temple to the end of the arm in mm.

Blue Demi - This is the model number of the frame.
